I get more of a hurried feeling with this track. It seems like the kind of music that'd play when someone wakes up and realizes they are late for work or school -- but that might just be me. I like it from a composition standpoint.

From a production standpoint, the Autogun synth clashes with itself a lot. When you change notes, sometimes an unwanted reesey sound comes through because of the clashing. You can remedy this by sampling and fading the release out, or by using a different synth and recreating the sound. You should also try turning said synth down, it is a bit loud.

Overall, the idea is there. Just cleaning it up in mixing and mastering and you'll get a pretty cool finished product.

Yeelp responds:

Ah, I see what you mean. I'll definitely rework the synth to create a better product for sure, then re upload it. Thanks for the suggestions!

I actually really like this. It seems like something that'd be in Adventure Time. One of my favorites from my fellow peers in the Underdogs Group. :D

Clerik responds:

Thx man, and gl to you in the contest. I love adventure time and regular show too, actually sampled some regular show in a track but can't post it here cause copyright lameness... :p

This is a very good atmospheric track; it certainly conveys the eerie atmosphere of a horror movie. The only recommendations I have are for the mastering. I recommend cleaning up some of the lower frequencies. Maybe sidechaining your sub bass to the kick so they don't clash or cover each other too much. The snare could also be louder, and fatter. I recommend making the percussion as a whole much louder, but that might just be me.

Overall, this is a really cool track. Very interesting and unique approach to the genre. I like it!

Thnx bro :)
My problem is that i cant master my tracks becuse my PC can carry it all together
but thank u very much ^-^

The track is pretty good. The guitar is tight and works really well. It sounds a bit thin though, so I'd try and make it sound fuller. The drums are also very good -- it's just they do not feel a part of the track. I'd recommend EQ and further mastering to prevent that from happening.

Other than that, you have a solid track. Nicely done! Keep up the good work. :)

Blacklawn responds:

Can you explain to me the issue with the drums a bit better in a PM? Thanks.

I like that your lyrics begin with a story and race through thoughts and emotions. Is rare to find lyrics so descriptive and unconvoluted. You just say what you mean, and that's pretty unique now days.

As for the technical side of things, it is great that you were able to record in your bedroom. The beat and chords came through very well. The vocals, unfortunately, did not. A few times they were overpowered, though nothing major. I recommend amping your vocals up a little, but that's all I got for you. I loved it! Keep it up!

FustigateM responds:

thanks =D this is a still a work in progress too, i posted it here to look for collaborators while i polish the final track ; )

my writing means alot to me, specifically , so thank you again for the compliment. i put everything ive got into it.

Very nicely done! It is like a subjective story, with the changes in tempo and notes changing the mood or scene of the story. The recording quality is also fantastic and the lack of editing gives it the human quality that so much music lacks nowadays - mine included (for obvious reasons). Nice work!

Thank you! :) I am delighted you enjoy it, there will be more soon when I have the time! And your review will certainly influence my decision to edit my music.

It sounds like you and your friend were inspired by Coldplay.

Skitarg responds:

Neither of us are big fans of Coldplay, but we had some sort of uplifting standard pop rock song in mind, maybe that's Coldplay in a nutshell :)

Thanks for your review!

This is very well-done. Did you use soundfonts, samples, or VSTs? The track is composed and mixed well, with very little to be desired. The only issue we have is that, for maybe the first twenty seconds or so, the higher register seemed to bleed a little bit. Other than that, excellently produced. You should definitely revamp more of the music from the different Star Trek series.

AndrewRG responds:

Thanks for your kind words, Sundans. The instrumentation is almost entirely from "East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra". There is a synth choir at the beginning which doesn't come from the EWQLSO library, and it may be contributing to the bleeding you describe. The original version had a droning synth choir, so I tried to stay true to it, but have since come to partially regret using it since it does sound out of place. It was hard to balance and mix with the orchestral samples. I do plan to cover some additional Star Trek music, so thank you for the encouragement. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece.

We especially enjoyed the track at 2:41, since it changed the mood just enough for it to feel fresh and various. Towards the end it feels like something is missing in the lower registers. Like a bass or something. Other than that, we enjoyed the tech-y futuristic feel to the track. We hope to see more tracks like this!

idfpower responds:

Thanks, much appreciated :)

Unfortunately I had to finish the mix on headphones (my dear daughter "took care" of my reference speakers) to meet the dealine and that's probably why it sounds the way it does. That, and also since my main "job" is playing bass in a band, I tend to go the opposite way when composing Electronic music, hehe :) Thanks again for the constructive input :)

The mix is just so good! The bassline and atmosphere was perfect. What ruined it for us was the lack of mastering. All of the sounds were distorted because you did not put a limiter on it. You have the option to replace sounds with your current tracks. Please put this back in your DAW and master it really quickly! Other than that, it was great!

FI5H responds:

As per request, limiter has been added. I purposely didn't add limiter while mastering this because the harshness and distortion is in the track on purpose. Well anyways, the track has been replaced with the limiter one, thanks for the feedback

Sundans has been working with FL Studio for approximately two years now, with very little experience in any other DAW or in music.
