The track definitely has the mixing, but you really need to work on the mastering. All the instruments are competing with each other, and the kick is peaking. I can see where you are trying to go with this track, and I can see it going well, but I think you should definitely try to master your tracks.

Hope to hear more from you!

The track is, overall, beautifully done. The complextro segments really do convey the feeling of entropy, very well done! Those toms O_o

The only recommendation I can make is to EQ the lows a bit. The kicks over power some of the other percussion, and towards the end of the track the sub clipped a tad. Those are minor though because... HOLY BALLS that was good! Keep it up!

It sounds like you and your friend were inspired by Coldplay.

Skitarg responds:

Neither of us are big fans of Coldplay, but we had some sort of uplifting standard pop rock song in mind, maybe that's Coldplay in a nutshell :)

Thanks for your review!

Haha, sounds like Elder Scrolls music.

This is very well-done. Did you use soundfonts, samples, or VSTs? The track is composed and mixed well, with very little to be desired. The only issue we have is that, for maybe the first twenty seconds or so, the higher register seemed to bleed a little bit. Other than that, excellently produced. You should definitely revamp more of the music from the different Star Trek series.

AndrewRG responds:

Thanks for your kind words, Sundans. The instrumentation is almost entirely from "East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra". There is a synth choir at the beginning which doesn't come from the EWQLSO library, and it may be contributing to the bleeding you describe. The original version had a droning synth choir, so I tried to stay true to it, but have since come to partially regret using it since it does sound out of place. It was hard to balance and mix with the orchestral samples. I do plan to cover some additional Star Trek music, so thank you for the encouragement. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece.

We have no idea why this is rated so low. This deserves far more attention! Brilliant vocal work!

Don't get discouraged. This track was an improvement from your last one, though you still need to EQ your wobbles, or change them entirely. The underlying thumping bass... or kick... whatever it was, that was pretty cool. It was reminiscent of the opening bass in Bonfire by Knife Party. In between your bass riffs, you seem to lack everything other than the drums. Try to throw in a variety of basses and a combination of melody and leads. You are on the right path, keep going!

The bass needs some sort of limiter on it so it is not so overpowering. The chord progressions and melodies are well-done, but the basses need a bit of work. They don't really mesh well with the rest of the track or the drums. Instead of wobbles, you should try side-chained hypersaw chord progressions or something like that. Dubstep is not all 'bout them wobbles.

Other than that, this track has potential. Good luck in on your endeavors!

This sounds like something that would be apart of a Settlers game. The track has that somewhat mystical, curious feeling accompanied by atmospheric tones that paint an image. It sounds like a journey.

The track does lack variation, though. Despite the excellent mixing, I feel as though the track doesn't really go anywhere. Perhaps make it more interesting with occasional energetic or uplifting orchestral sequences? Other than that, it sounds terrific!

We especially enjoyed the track at 2:41, since it changed the mood just enough for it to feel fresh and various. Towards the end it feels like something is missing in the lower registers. Like a bass or something. Other than that, we enjoyed the tech-y futuristic feel to the track. We hope to see more tracks like this!

Thanks, much appreciated :)

Unfortunately I had to finish the mix on headphones (my dear daughter "took care" of my reference speakers) to meet the dealine and that's probably why it sounds the way it does. That, and also since my main "job" is playing bass in a band, I tend to go the opposite way when composing Electronic music, hehe :) Thanks again for the constructive input :)
